Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos is reportedly planning to review and rewrite regulations that govern how faith-based colleges receive and use federal funding.

Politico reports Devos will look at easing restrictions on how religious colleges get federal funding.

Education department officials say that some existing rules “unnecessarily restrict participation by religious entities” in federal programs.

A decision by the Supreme Court last year appears to have cleared the way for DeVos to act.

In that case, the Court ruled that Missouri could not block a Lutheran school from getting a federal grant to improve playground safety.
