The chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee is asking the Justice Department to conduct a possible criminal investigation of Julie Swetnick and her attorney Michael Avenatti.

Swetnick made some totally sensational accusations against Brett Kavanaugh before he was confirmed to the Supreme Court.

The accusations that he participated in drugging and gang raping women in college were never substantiated.

In a statement, Iowa Republican Senator Chuck Grassley said he wants the two investigated for “materially false statements they made to” the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Grassley noted it is against the law to make false statements to Congress and to obstruct congressional investigations.
